Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) along with three or more years relevant tractor/trailer mechanic experience required.Language Skills Ability to interpret common repair manuals and guides. Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from vendors, co-workers, or management. Ability to communicate information to vendors, management, and co-workers. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with vendors, management, co-workers.Mathematical Skills Ability to apply general concepts such as fractions, U.S. Metric System Measurements, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Other Qualifications DOT Certified preferredCOMPETENCIES:Communication The ability to inform orally and in writing, with clarity and good effect. All safety guards and other safety devices are in its proper location, are functional, and utilized effectively on a consistent basis.Standard operating procedures, safety work rules, and good general manufacturing practices are followed on a daily basis.Work Quality Work quality refers to the effort that consistently achieves desired outcomes with a minimum of avoidable errors and problems.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the individual is constantly moving about at the shop to transport parts, inspect equipment, access tools; equipment, parts, and other necessary items to complete the job. They must be able to position themselves to perform inspections and maintenance on equipment and Tractor Trailers, including underneath and above the object being repaired, and must be able to reach overhead to retrieve materials needed. Occasionally this individual will ascend/descend a ladder to service Tractor Trailers and equipment. They are frequently using powered and non-powered tools and motorized equipment, such as forklifts, to complete work. Occasionally, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 40 percent of the time. This individual must regularly transport or move up to 100 lbs. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other employees, management, and vendors throughout the service process; and must be able to detect mechanical issues from short distances to determine what action needs to be taken.WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. They are frequently exposed to vibration. The individual performing this job is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. They are also exposed to dust, dirt, and grease conditions.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Due to exposure to machinery and electrical currents, employees are required to wear personal protective equipment. During warmer months, the required personal protective equipment may cause the employee to be very warm while working. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment.Job Requirements:DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Repairs or maintains the operating condition of Tractor Trailers or equipment.Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on Tractor, Trailers, and equipment.Repairs or replaces broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment using welding equipment, power and non-powered tools, jacks, or forklifts.Repairs, rewires, and troubleshoots electrical systems within the machinery or equipment.Disassembles machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.Observes and tests the Tractor Trailers or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.Reassembles equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.Tests Tractors, Trailers, or equipment to determine malfunctions and ensure proper functioning after repair.Research, orders, and maintains parts inventory for services and repairs.Preforms schedules and unscheduled MaintenancePreform DOT inspections and follow checklistsPerforms all other duties as assigned.Must own your own tools, steel toe boots requiredProficient with air brakes and ABS systemsPreform other duties as assignedby Jobble
